Per recent claims from a whistleblower, Ghislaine Maxwell, now completing a 20-year prison term for trafficking offenses, is reportedly preparing a commutation application for consideration by the Trump administration.

Preferential Handling Claimed at Correctional Facility

House Democrats on the House judiciary committee announced that a source provided information indicating Maxwell is preparing the clemency petition. Additionally, they mentioned she has been given preferential conditions at the minimum-security facility in Texas.

Representative Jamie Raskin, the ranking member on the committee, stated in a official statement that the facility's chief was assisting the convict with document preparation and submission to support her bid for executive mercy.

The exact content of the “commutation application” remain unclear, the congressman noted.

Claimed Perks and Custom Arrangements

The representative claims that, according to the whistleblower, Maxwell has been receiving “customized” meals that are “personally delivered” to her living area, and the warden has individually organized exclusive visits for Maxwell and her visitors.

These meetings allegedly include a “special cordoned-off area” for attendees and “an assortment of snacks and refreshments” for her associates.

Those visiting Maxwell were also reportedly permitted to carry electronic devices, which the congressman characterized as an exceptional measure given the potential danger and potential for unmonitored communications.

Reportedly on one occasion, when communications failed for other inmates, she was provided directions about who she should tell her associates to call and how staff would connect the communication to her.

Supervisor Acting as Assistant

The source also allegedly told congressional members that when Maxwell wanted to examine and modify papers “quickly”, she reportedly employed the warden as her private aide.

The news release indicates that Maxwell’s correspondents would send files directly to the warden, who would hand them over to Maxwell, for her to examine and change and return them to the warden to scan and provide to the initial correspondent.

Additional Privileges Reported

Further perks reportedly provided to her include time to “play with” a trainee assistance dog – a perk not “ordinarily allowed” – as well as private after-hours access to the prison exercise area.

Maxwell’s attorney has not yet replied to a inquiry regarding the whistleblower’s claims.

Through a spokesperson, the White House said that it “does not comment” on potential clemency requests.

“As President Trump has stated, granting clemency to Ghislaine Maxwell is not something he has thought about,” the representative noted.

Recent Background

Recently, it was reported that she told close associates in electronic messages that she was more content at the new prison than her previous prison.

This past summer, she was transferred from a low-security prison in Tallahassee, Florida to the minimum-security camp in Texas, where most detainees are incarcerated for financial and non-violent crimes.

The transfer, which experts described as “unprecedented”, occurred just shortly following she was questioned about the Epstein case by the deputy attorney general, the official, who also once acted as Donald Trump's private attorney.

This questioning came as the Trump administration was facing increasing scrutiny to disclose additional files related to the ongoing probe and amid widespread conjecture around the President's own connections to the disgraced financier and adjudicated criminal, who was found dead in a New York jail in that year while awaiting prosecution on sex-trafficking charges.

Lawmaker Reactions

In the news release, the congressman also announced that he had sent a letter to Trump, requesting explanations about the insider's claims, and urged the president to reject the clemency appeal.

“It would be inappropriate to approve any form of clemency to this convicted and unrepentant criminal,” the representative stated in the letter. “The government must not offer her with personal amenities, with puppies to play with, with government agents waiting on her every need, or with any preferential handling or facility benefit at all.”

The congressman asked that Blanche attend a public congressional hearing to discuss the revelations and also posed three questions to Trump.

Raskin asked whether he had talked about a potential commutation for the convict with Blanche or others, whether he had instructed him or anyone else to provide her with the transfer or special conditions in prison, and whether Maxwell, her lawyers, family or representatives have made any promises to Trump or his legal team.

Raskin has asked for a response to the questions by the specified date.

In October, the US supreme court declined to hear an petition from the convict on her sex-trafficking conviction.
